Our Techniques
We use a number of highly-effective adjusting approaches
to help improve spinal motion and reduce pressure on spinal joints,
discs, and nerves. The approach we use on each individual patient is
varied and based on their condition and our years of experience. The
primary adjusting techniques we use include:
Diversified
After identifying which spinal bones have lost their normal motion or
position, a specific manual thrust is administered to free up “stuck”
joints. The direction, speed, depth, and angle that are used is the
result of experience, practice, and a thorough understanding of the
spinal mechanics. The energy delivered during the thrust may produce
a slight “popping” sound from the vertebral joints as the
result of shifting gas and fluids.
While improving spinal biomechanics can reduce joint, disc, and nervous
system interferences, virtually all joints of the body can be adjusted
to help restore proper range of motion.
Instrument Adjusting
Using a hand held spring loaded instrument the doctor can deliver a
“low force”, high speed adjustment. It is many times faster
than adjustments by hand--allowing the body to stay relaxed, making
adjustments comfortable and effective.
Flexion/Distraction
This technique uses a specialized table, the movement of the table helps
traction the spine, opening up compressed spinal discs and reducing
pressure on facet joints and nerves of the spine. This technique offers
a conservative resolution of low back pain and leg pain that often averts
the need for surgery.
Physiotherapy
We also use combinations of physiotherapy modalities depending on the
patients needs. These may include:
Ultrasound- reduces inflammation and muscle spasms.
Muscle Stimulation- reduces muscle spasms and can stimulate weakened
muscles.
Massaging tables and chair- embedded rollers within the table roll,
vibrate, and percuss the spine in order to loosen tight muscle and joints
of the spine.
